THANE: Five undertrials who had attacked and abused a police team while being brought back to jail after a hearing two years ago were denied bail by a Thane court, an official said on Monday.
In his order of last last month, the copy of which was made available now, additional session judge Shailendra Tambe said Amjad Yusuf Pathan, Imran Immukalya Ibrahim Sayyed, Bhushan Ganpat More, Irshad Shaikh and Baban Wani did not deserve bail at this point of the trial, the official said.
The five had attacked and abused a police team which was escorting them back to jail after a court hearing on March 6, 2019.
Police said that details of the baby, including her parents are being ascertained. It is being investigated if the baby was abducted or sold by her parents.
MUMBAI: A 48-year-old doctor, a couple and a woman have been arrested for allegedly trying to sell an eight-month-old baby in Virar on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap near the state transport bus depot in Virar (east). The couple Sonjit Mandal (40) and Manju (37), residing in Narangi village arrived at the spot with the baby girl. Police nabbed them and rescued the baby.
During the questioning, the couple confessed that the baby was handed over to them by a doctor identified as Jiten Bala, a resident of Nilemore in Nalasopara.
The explosion occurred at around 2.30am.
THANE: One person was injured in an explosion that took place in Mira Road’s Ram Nagar area in the wee hours of Monday.
Six LPG cylinders exploded when the delivery vehicle, which was parked at an open ground near Shivar Garden, caught fire at around 2.30am.
A 25-year-old local, who was at the blast site, received minor injuries and was given first aid, Thane civic body s regional disaster management cell chief Santosh Kadam said.

KALYAN: A Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Transport (KDMT) bus breakdown on Durgadi bridge on Kalyan creek in Thane district of Maharashtra connecting Kalyan and Bhiwandi cities led to a huge traffic jam for over two two kilometres on Monday.
There was traffic congestion from Durgadi bridge to Lal chowki towards Kalyan side and Durgadi bridge to up to Reliance petrol pump on Bhiwandi side.
The incident took place at 9am on Durgadi bridge towards Kalyan side that connects Kalyan and Bhiwandi.
The office-goers from areas in Kalyan and beyond dependent on road transportation in Mumbai faced difficulties.
Yogesh Dalvi, a commuter from Kalyan travelling to Thane, said, I was stuck on bridge for at least 30 minutes and vehicles moved at a snail s pace on the bridge.
