The Nigerian Navy’s new hydrographic survey vessel NNS Lana will arrive home on 17 May, and is currently sailing from The Gambia to Ghana.
The Nigerian Navy (NN) on 7 May said the NNS Lana today departed Banjul in The Gambia, for Tema-Ghana on the fourth leg of her maiden homeward voyage. She is expected to arrive Tema-Ghana on 13 May and depart on 16 May, to arrive home on the 17th.
The Nigerian Navy recently took delivery of NNS Lana from Ocea in Saint Nazaire, France. Being the Nigerian Navy’s first ever purpose built Offshore Survey Vessel, the new vessel was conceived as a replacement to the previous NNS Lana, a survey ship that was decommissioned about 10 years ago. Notably, the construction of the Offshore Survey Vessel 190 Mk II (NNS Lana) commenced in December 2019 and the building process was successfully completed and the ship was launched on 24 September 2020 at Les Sables d’Olonne, France.

Nigerian Navy’s newest Offshore Survey Vessel, NNS LANA, yesterday afternoon, arrived Banjul, Gambia as she continues her homeward voyage to Nigeria.
The ship was received by a navy delegation and officials of the Nigerian High Commission in Gambia. The vessel is expected to stay in Gambia for 3 days, before departing for Tema, Ghana on May 7, 2021.
Recall that the navy recently took delivery of NNS LANA in Saint Nazaire, France. Being the navy’s first-ever purpose built Offshore Survey Vessel, the new vessel was conceived as a replacement to the previous NNS LANA, a survey ship that was decommissioned about 10 years ago. According to naval spokesman, Commodre Suleman Dahun, “Notably, the construction of Offshore Survey Vessel 190 MKII (NNS LANA) commenced in December 2019 and the building process was successfully completed and the ship was launched on 24 September 2020 at Les Sables d’Olonne, France.

The ship will be received by a Nigerian Navy delegation headed by Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan and officials of the Nigerian High Commission in Gambia. The vessel is expected to arrive Banjul, Gambia on 4 May 2021 before proceeding to Tema, Ghana.
