Tandav row: Amazon Prime head Aparna Purohit appears before SIT again

Express News Service LUCKNOW: Amazon Prime national head Aparna Purohit appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the second time late on Monday evening to record her statement in connection with the FIRs lodged against her and others related to the controversy over the ‘Tandav web series.  She has been asked to appear before the investigation team again on March 18. Earlier, Purohit had appeared before the SIT on February 24. As per the highly placed sources, Purohit was asked about 50 questions and directed to come prepared with their answers during her next visit to record her statement. The political drama series featuring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, has been hitting the headlines since its premier owing to its content.

Tandav case: The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to file regulations on social media. New Delhi: The Supreme Court today called for screening of video content on OTT (Over The Top) platforms, saying even pornograpic material is being shown on some of them. There should be a mechanism to screen such programmes, the top court said as it directed the centre to place before it the recent guidelines of the government to regulate social media platforms. Now watching movies on internet and OTT has become common. We are of the view there must be some screening, Justice Ashok Bhushan said while hearing an appeal by India head of Amazon Prime Video, Aparna Purohit, who has challenged an order by the Allahabad High Court in the ongoing investigation against the web series Tandav .

Tandav Row: The cast and the crew of the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed series apologised twice. New Delhi: Amazon Prime Video has issued an unconditional apology over its show Tandav , saying it deeply regrets that viewers considered certain scenes to be objectionable . The apology comes days after a single-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by Aparna Purohit, a top Amazon executive, over a police complaint filed against the show in Uttar Pradesh. At least two FIRs were filed against the makers and actors of the show in Uttar Pradesh last year, alleging some of the scenes hurt religious sentiments.
