The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Aliyu Adamu, yesterday ordered policemen in the state to ensure the full enforcement of the ban on the movement of tricycles and motorcycles in Yola, the state capital, and its environs.
The CP order was sequel to the state Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s executive order banning the use of tricycles and motorcycles in three local government area of Girei, Yola North and Yola South within the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 am.
The governor in a statement issued last Tuesday which was signed by his Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, said the order would last until further notice.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State are mourning the loss of former Inspector General of Police Gambo Jimeta who passed on Thursday in Abuja after battling an illness.
They expressed deep sadness on the passing of the former IGP in separate condolence messages,.
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar expressed deep shock at the death of the ex-police boss, whom he said was his bosom friend, stating that he was a super cop, patriotic Nigerian and a steward leader.
In the condolence statement issued by his Media Office yesterday, Atiku was nostalgic about the invaluable time he shared with the late former Presidential Adviser on Security Matters and topnotch police detective.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed both Public and Private Schools across the state to end the first term.
The governor said the closure take immediate effect Friday.
Fintiri gave the directive on Friday in a press release signed and made available to journalists in Yola by his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou
He added that schools that were yet to round off academic activities for the first term 20/21 academic session were to do so on Friday and close for the Christmas and New year break.
“This is to allow School Children go home early for the Yuletide and New year celebrations”

More condolences yesterday poured in over the death of the Chairman and founder of Leadership Newspapers, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah, with the Adamawa State Governor, Mr. Ahmadu Fintiri; the Minister Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Muhammad Bello; former Chairman, The Punch, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola; and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing sadness over his sudden demise.
Nda-Isaiah died on Friday at the age of 58.
Fintiri expressed deep shock over the death, describing Nda-Isaiah as an embodiment of leadership.
In a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor noted that Nda-Isaiah’s sterling qualities stood him out as a rare Nigerian, who interpreted the Nigerian situation with great understanding and passion for the growth and development of the nation.
