Quick Quack Car Wash grand opening in Victorville to include fundraiser for High Desert family

A nearly 20-foot-tall inflatable duck named “Quackals” stands along Palmdale Road in Victorville heralding the opening of the new Quick Quack Car Wash.
Quick Quick officials told the Daily Press the company’s first Victor Valley location had a soft opening on Feb. 2, with a grand opening celebration this week that includes free car washes, prize giveaways and a fundraiser for 22-year-old Marcus Hilton, who lives in Victorville and has cerebral palsy.
During the fundraiser, scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, instead of charging for car washes, the Victorville location will ask customers for donations.

No one I know would dispute the observation that 2020 was a downer of a year, but at least one thing was encouragingly up, and I am of course referring to the number of letters printed in our local paper.
After a three-year decline, the 850 letters printed in the Daily Press in 2020 represent a 20% increase over 2019. This uptick also represents good progress toward a return to a time when the letters counted over 1,500 a year.
The majority of 2020 letters focused on just two closely connected topics: The coronavirus and Trump (his approach to the virus, his first impeachment and the election).

Victor Valley residents awoke Monday morning to a second round of falling snow, which began Sunday night and turned the area into a winter wonderland with dangerous driving conditions.
A slight chance of rain was also expected Monday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a same-day wind advisory from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley. Winds were expected to reach 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
Saturday’s snowstorm included 2 inches of powder in Apple Valley, 2 to 3 inches in Hesperia, 3 inches in Lucerne Valley, 9 inches in Crestline and just over a foot in the Big Bear area, the NWS reported.
