Nine persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released last Saturday, July 24, from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City and the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte.
In a statement, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said that the immediate release of qualified prisoners has been ordered by BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag “to continuously implement the decongestion program for PDLs amidst the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.”
Those released from the DPPF included three inmates who had been granted parole, one through good conduct time allowance (GCTA), and one who had been acquitted of his criminal charges.
