Most Michigan counties are moving in the right direction in regards to coronavirus transmission rates.
Compared to a week ago, 73 of the 83 counties have seen a drop in their seven-day average of daily new cases, and 66 have seen a drop in their seven-day average positivity rate on coronavirus diagnostic tests.
Statewide, the seven-day average of new cases is now 5,106, a 21% drop from 6,431 a week ago today. The seven-day average positivity rate is now 11.6%, down from 14.4% a week ago.
However, that very good news is tempered by the fact that most counties are still have very high rates of COVID-19 transmission: All but two counties have an average daily case rate at the highest level of the state’s risk-assessment scale for that metric, and 67 counties have a positivity rate of at least 10%
