What are you afraid of?
It is more than disappointing to read and see on TV news that some of our Austin citizens, mostly living west of Interstate 35 and north in Williamson County, have objected to a residence for people experiencing homelessness.
Shades of 1928 when “haves” decreed “have-nots” must remove themselves from neighborhoods they lived in for years and move east of what was then East Avenue.
What are you afraid of? Rubbing elbows with people you do occasional and sometimes outstanding charitable work for, as long as they are not living in your neighborhood? What harm can come to you to have a humane, sanitary residence for homeless people?
A do-nothing Congress that started during Obama's first term has extended to this day with President Biden forced to issue ephemeral executive orders rather than seeking legislation.

Here is my verdict two days after: I am unreservedly happy that we had Donald J. Trump as our president for four years.
But I am not uncritical. And I am as yet unconvinced that his unique combination of personal qualities is what we need in 2024, though my guess would be – and it’s really just flipping a coin, people – is that he will not run again. But who knows? Stranger things have happened, like him being elected in the first place. Trump’s track record as the most conservative president since Reagan is indisputable, as is his success in actually accomplishing conservative things.

This is going to be used as the excuse by the Biden Administration for cracking down on all of us. It will go down in history as “an attempted coup.” It was a completely manufactured event.
After President Trump delivered a speech in DC to a huge MAGA crowd, he told his people to march to the Capitol. The DC police wanted people to break in, i.e. they only put a dozen of regular cops in front of the capitol, with a stupid aluminum barrier; moreover, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser
told federal law enforcement to stand down.
