According to the police, the deceased identified as Velmurugan from Vandiyur, Madurai, died after hanging himself on the terrace of the Madurai Collector s Office today.
Velmurugan worked as a sanitation worker in the Madurai Collector s Office.
The Tallakulam police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of suicide. (ANI)

The police have arrested three youths, all aged 18 years, on charge of assaulting a motorist and robbing a mobile phone from him near Samayanallur road over bridge on Friday night.
The police said that when S. Ramachandran (37) of Old Vilangudi, who is into cargo transport, was riding a motorbike, the trio had followed him.
At around 10 p.m. one of them attacked him with a knife in which the victim sustained injuries on his head, mouth and right hand.
The accused then snatched his mobile phone and fled the scene. The police arrested them.

Madurai: A prostitution racket was recently busted in Madurai. The Tallakulam police in the city busted the racket that was functioning at an Ayurveda massage centre in Narimedu area.
According to a media report, four people were arrested during the busing of the racket. The police were also able to rescue a 32-year-old woman who was indulged in the practice of prostitution.
The police had received information about the racket after which the police reached the spot on Monday evening. Reports suggest that the police barged into the Ayurveda centre following which, it was confirmed that the place was being used for prostitution.

SDPI, VCK cadres block road as police could not stop drum beating near a mosque
An armed gang allegedly entered the BJP Madurai rural district office premises on Sunday and broke some plastic chairs, prompting senior police officers to rush to the spot. Following the incident, a group of BJP cadres blocked Sivaganga Road at Melamadai here demanding the arrest of the accused.
MADURAI: The Madurai city police seized six kg of ganja in 13 separate incidents on Tuesday. Around 15 people were arrested in connection with ganja peddling.
The city police have taken up a drive against ganja peddling since it leads to many of the crime incidents. Often, disputes erupt among gangs in selling ganja in a particular area.
With the money coming in from the sale of the contraband is what keeps the gangs going, the police have taken a stern view against ganja peddling.
The Anna Nagar police registered three cases, the Sellur police registered two cases and Teppakulam, Thideer Nagar, Jaihindpuram, Mathichiyam, K Pudur, Koodal Pudur, SS Colony and Tallakulam police registered one each case.
