An over delivery of Pfizer vaccine to the surgery of Dr Syed Ali in Longford town last Thursday led to a huge effort by local GP s to use the supply before it went out of date
The Longford GP at the centre of a massive vaccine over delivery has called on the HSE to take responsibility for the error.
Dr. Syed Ali, who runs a surgery at Leader House in the Town, received 240 vials of the Pfizer vaccine on Thursday following a reported order of just 40 vials.
One container of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine contains six doses, meaning the local GP received almost 1,500 individual vaccines, with a total storage life of just 72 hours.
