Make sure you change the batteries in your smoke and CO alarms now By Rita R. Robison on March 15, 2021 at 4:10 PM
It’s Daylight Saving Time. When you turn your clocks one hour forward, think safety, too, and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Smoke and CO alarms need fresh batteries installed each year, unless they have sealed 10-year batteries, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises. Alarms also need to be tested each month to make sure they’re working properly.
Place smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside each bedroom and outside sleeping areas. CO alarms should be placed on every level of your home and outside sleeping areas.
