“I want to congratulate the students from Alaminos City National High School in Pangasinan who created this award-winning film. They are proof that Filipino-made films are world-class,” Abalos said, referring to the students’ work titled “Sa Layag ng Bangkang Paurong.”
Abalos bared that the students who created the documentary were participants in the Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) student short film caravan.
With this, he encouraged other student-filmmakers to join the MMFF student caravan, which will have an online set-up this year.
The film caravan will provide students an opportunity to learn from distinguished filmmakers on the basics of filmmaking, cinematography, script writing, acting, directing techniques, viability considerations in producing films, and other filmmaking aspects.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos gave kudos to local officials in the National Capital Region (NCR) for two major achievements this April in connection with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Abalos did so during President Duterte’s public briefing on Wednesday night, April 28.
“Gusto ko lang hong purihin ang mga alkalde, ang mga barangay captain, ang mga kagawad, ang mga tanod ng kalakhang Maynila (I just want to praise the mayors, the barangay captains, the councilmen, the watchmen of Metro Manila),” he said.

Storage facilities in Metro Manila will be able to handle the expected deluge of anti-coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines in the coming months.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos made this guarantee during the an interview Sunday morning, April 25, over DZBB radio.
“Hindi naman [mapupuno ang mga warehouses], naka-schedule naman ‘yan na maigi. Mamaya pag-uusapan namin [sa meeting] (The warehouses won’t get full, we’ve properly scheduled them),” Abalos said when asked about the possibility of the storage facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR) getting full.
Abalos confirmed in the same interview that he would have a meeting with the 17 mayors that comprise the Metro Manila Council (MMC) on Sunday night. The MMC is the policy-making body of the MMDA.

As community pantries continue to pop up in different areas in the National Capital Region, the Metro Manila Council (MMC) urged on Sunday, April 24, their organizers to coordinate first with their local government units (LGUs) to ensure proper observance of health and safety protocols.
The Metro Manila mayors unanimously approved on Friday, April 23, a resolution that underscored the importance of sustaining the downward trend in the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in the National Capital Region (NCR) which is considered as the epicenter of the pandemic.
“While the organizers of community pantries exemplify collective charity and concern for the plight of the underprivileged and are truly worthy of emulation, support, and praise, the primordial minimum public health standards under the prevailing community quarantine must remain paramount,” the resolution read.
