Passengers on Luzerne County Transportation Authority buses and vans must start paying fares again on June 1, authority officials announced Tuesday.
Collection had been suspended since the end of March 2020 to allow for coronavirus social distancing because fare boxes are located by the drivers at the front of buses.
Passengers also were asked to enter and exit buses using the rear door.

“The fact that we are using our first CRA on the methane rule shows how important it is and shows the difference in having a Democratic majority when it comes to climate change,” Majority Leader Charles Schumer
The New York Democrat called it “one of the most important votes, not only that this Congress has cast but has been cast in the last decade, in terms of our fight against global warming.”

WASHINGTON
The Senate on Thursday approved a bill designed to make it easier for law enforcement to investigate hate crimes against Asian Americans after a surge in violence amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a rare, if fleeting, moment of bipartisanship on Capitol Hill, senators approved the bill 94 to 1.
“We will send a powerful message of solidarity to the AAPI community that the Senate will not be a bystander as anti-Asian violence surges in our country,” said Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) ahead of the vote.
Hirono, who led the bill, cited the more than 3,800 anti-Asian hate crimes reported around the country in the last year, according to research by Stop AAPI Hate. Days after Hirono introduced the bill last month, a gunman killed eight people, including six Asian women, in attacks at three spas in Georgia.
