Council calls for more support as Warrington is set to enter tier 3 WARRINGTON Borough Council has said more Government support is needed following the devastating news that the town will enter tier 3. Following a government announcement this afternoon, Wednesday, Warrington will move into the ‘very high’ Covid local alert level from 00.01am on Boxing Day. Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: We are disappointed to see the recent acceleration of rates of infection in Warrington. Our communities and businesses have played their part in avoiding tier 3 restrictions up to this point, and I would like to pay tribute to them, and to our local public health teams, for their amazing dedication and commitment.

BUSINESSES in the Highlands are being encouraged to apply for a new support grant as a new near-lockdown looms.
Highland Council has paid out Business Restriction Grants of over £740,000 to 461 businesses impacted by the current Level 1 restrictions
Businesses required to close due to the Level 4 restrictions from Boxing Day will be able to apply for further Scottish Government grants early in the New Year.

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Friendly relations between Belarus and Armenia will be maintained and developed, Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said as she met with outgoing Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Armen Ghevondyan, BelTA has learned.
“I want to thank you for constructive work in Belarus, and, of course, for your contribution to the development of bilateral relations between our countries. You have really done a lot over the years, arranged meetings of our heads of state, telephone conversations among other things, to strengthen friendship between our peoples and promote cooperation in various areas,” Natalya Kochanova noted.
Distinguished Belarusians honored with state awards MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed decrees to honor 78 representatives of various professions with state awards, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader. In recognition of the many-year productive work in government bodies, a big personal contribution to the development of integration processes in the Eurasian space, consistent efforts to protect Belarus interests, and the implementation of the state policy the Order of Fatherland 2nd Class was conferred on Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich. The Order of Fatherland 3rd Class was bestowed upon Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova. She received this award in recognition of her productive public and social activities, a big personal contribution to the development of legislation, parliamentarism and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
