NEW YORK (WCBS 880) A California woman who wrongly accused a Black teenager of taking her cell phone at a New York City hotel last year pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to hate crime charges.
Miya Ponsetto, who has been dubbed “SoHo Karen,” appeared via teleconference in Manhattan court to be arraigned on unlawful imprisonment as a hate crime, aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.
The 22-year-old was charged in connection to an incident at the Arlo Hotel in December 2020, in which she allegedly confronted 14-year-old Keyon Harrold Jr. and accused him of stealing her phone.
