DETROIT (FOX 2) - Grow Detroit s Young Talent program is a boost for Detroit’s economy and it’s young residents. Today is the day over 8,000 summer job workers start working, you’ll see them all over town, said Mayor Mike Duggan.
Grow Detroit s Young Jobs program kicks off employing 8,000 youth
Construction work at Michigan Central Station owned by Ford Motor Company, also serves as one of the job sites.
Young Detroiters like Terance Williams are participating in the program that provides work experiences for Detroiters ages 14 to 24.

Central Coast non-profits RISE and Stand Strong announced the merging of their organizations on Thursday.
The two organizations have been operating since the 1970s and are dedicated to ending sexual and intimate partner violence in San Luis Obispo County.
Organizers say the new alliance will provide more comprehensive, inclusive services to those in the community who have experienced gender-based violence and are in need of shelter, therapy, advocacy, legal services, and other support. Thanks to the incredible dedication of both organizations board and staff members, we will be uniting two outstanding agencies, said Jennifer Adams former executive director of Stand Strong. CLEVELAND Local advocates of sexual assault survivors reacted to the news Wednesday that 83-year-old actor and comedian Bill Cosby is now a free man, after his conviction was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Cosby s record is wiped clean, and he cannot be retried. Sexual violence is one of the most underreported crimes, so when a survivor makes that brave decision to report to the criminal justice system, it s one that s well thought out, said Teresa Stafford, Chief Program Officer at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. So I think what happened today only highlights how complicated our criminal justice center is for survivors of sexual violence.
