We will not suspend our strike - JUSUN tells CJN - Daily Post Nigeria

National officials of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) have vowed that its ongoing nationwide strike would not be called off until state governors meet their demands. JUSUN made the assertion at a meeting with the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad The meeting held at the CJN’s chambers in Supreme Court was to give him feedback on his request for the strike to be called off. The Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadjia Hadiza Uwani Mustapha also attended the meeting. The CJN had, at an earlier meeting with JUSUN leaders on April 6, asked the union to call off the strike given its adverse effect on the justice system in the country.

Work begins at BCL as potential buyer carries due diligence

21st April 2021 The fate of the mothballed BCL mines will be known at the end of August as the potential buyer begins its due diligence. On Monday, the Chief Registrar of the High Court Michael Motlhabi revealed that a memorandum of understanding with Premium Nickel Resources Corporation has been finalized, paving way for the Canadian company that has partnered with local consortia to revive the mines that were closed and placed under liquidation five years ago. Early this year in February, the mines’ liquidator Trevor Glaum announced Premium Nickel Resources Corporation has been identified as the preferred bidder, granting the company exclusive access to the BCL and Tati mines to conduct a comprehensive due diligence exercise until August 2021.

JUSUN Strike: Lagos State Judiciary Enjoys 100% Financial Autonomy, CJ

Justice Kazeem Alogba, has said Lagos Judiciary has been enjoying the total compliance of Financial Autonomy on recurrent expenditures 100%, and on Capital Expenditure from the State Government. Justice Alogba also stated that the State Government has been in 75% compliance of JUSUN’s other demand, adding that, though it could be better, the Judiciary is quite satisfied with the Lagos State Government. He called on JUSUN to end the strike action, because there is no need for it in Lagos state. The CJ disclosed this when he presided over the meeting between the Lagos State Government and JUSUN Executives over the ongoing strike action.

DIFC Courts sets up working group for Space-related disputes

In statement, Zaki Azmi, Chief Justice of DIFC Courts, said: “While space law is nothing new, an important next step will be for the Courts of Space initiative to develop and establish the DIFC Courts as a commercial go-to court for these matters. This is a complex and tall order, but it’s well within Dubai’s reach as the UAE develops its own space-faring ambitions and becomes one of very few countries to have reached Mars.” The 17-member Working Group will have observers from The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs. “For the time being, the Working Group will discuss more current space dispute issues such as equipment failures, space cargo disputes, or even failure to deliver components on time, said Amna Al Owais, Chief Registrar, DIFC Courts.
