OC Fire Chief Richie Bowers said they have been talking about replacing this building for years.
We are told they have outgrown the operations at Station 3.
Some of those things include, the locker room and bathroom facilities not accommodating the entire staff adequately, and the lack of suitable engine bay space.
And we are told because of pandemic, it raised even more urgency to move out of Station 3.
“We have experienced the pandemic and we understand how some of the challenges with the current station as it relates to what it can help prevent and what it can’t, and unfortunately we are on that side of we can’t prevent some of the spread inside the building very easily because the way it is constructed,” Chief Bowers said.
