The High Court today granted bail to seven convicts in a case filed over the attack on motorcade of the then opposition leader and now Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Satkhira in 2002.
The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir Lytton granted the bail following separate petitions filed by the seven convicts.
The convicts are lawyers Abdus Sattar and Abdus Samad, Golam Rasul, Rakib, Zahirul, Shahabuddin and Monirul Islam, defence lawyer AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon told The Daily Star.

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday stayed the order of the Additional District Magistrate directing the Assistant Public Prosecutor at Amini Island, Lakshadweep, to attend the Legal Cell at the Secretariat for completing urgent pending works until further orders.
The Bench comprising Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice M.R. Anitha also directed the Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep to ensure that the prosecutor was posted in the island where the courts are functioning.
The court issued the order on a petition filed by Muhammed Saleem K.P, Andrott Island, Lakshadweep.

Court initiates action on his complaint
A Sri Lankan who was arrested in the sea recently in connection with a drug haul reportedly suffered burns due to alleged torture on board a Coast Guard vessel.
The alleged ill-treatment of the man at the hands of Coast Guard officials came to light when the accused in the drug haul case were produced before K. Biju Menon, Additional Sessions Judge 1, Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday.
The burns victim, identified as L.Y. Nandana, 46, of Nakulugamuwa, Sri Lanka, complained to the court that the officials made him lie in a supine position on a heated iron plate used for cooking in the patrolling vessel of the Coast Guard.
