MORRISVILLE, N.C., April 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ JupiterOne, the leader in cyber asset management and governance solutions, today announced the hiring of Sounil Yu as Chief Information Security Officer, and the appointment of Latha Maripuri to the company s board of directors.
Yu joins JupiterOne as CISO and Head of Research. He was the former CISO-in-Residence for YL Ventures, where he worked closely with aspiring entrepreneurs to validate their startup ideas and develop approaches for hard problems in cybersecurity. Prior to that role, Yu served at Bank of America as their Chief Security Scientist and at Booz Allen Hamilton where he helped improve security at several Fortune 100 companies and government agencies.

On April 14, 2021, the New York Department of Financial Services (“NYDFS”) announced a settlement with National Securities Corporation (“National Securities”), a licensed insurer, in connection with claims under the NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation (23 NYCRR Part 500). The consent order requires payment of a $3M penalty and mandatory remediation in response to alleged failures to properly implement multi-factor authentication, provide notice to NYDFS of two cybersecurity events reported to other regulators in 2018 and 2019, and for falsely certifying compliance for the calendar year 2018.
The consent order demonstrates continued active enforcement of the Cybersecurity Regulation by the NYDFS. The $3M penalty is the largest published assessment to date for alleged violations of the Cybersecurity Regulation. VIL recruits two senior-level executives

Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) has recruited two senior-level executives, with Mathan Babu Kasilingam joining as Executive Vice President (Technology Security) and Vivek Jain returning to the telecom operator as Executive Vice President (Marketing).
Kasilingam joins VIL from National Payment Corporation of India, where he was Chief Information Security Officer, prior to which he had worked with organistions such as HDFC Bank, British Telecom Global Sevices, Symantec Software, Mcafee, Wipro and HCL. He has over 20 year of experience in information and cyber security sectors, VIL said in a social media post.
Vivek Jain is joins VIL back from The LEGO Group. In his earlier stints, he had worked with Godrej Consumer Products, Colgate Palmolive, J&J and Perfetti Van Melle. Jain had quit VIL in 2019 to join The LEGO Group as General Manager–India.
