Jerel Jones as new MPD Chief MACOMB Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker announced today that he will be retiring as Chief of Police effective May 3, 2021. Barker, a graduate of Western Illinois University and a U.S. Army veteran, has served as a member of the Macomb Police Department for over 27 years, 12 of those years as Chief. “I am proud to have been able to serve the citizens of Macomb as a police officer and as their Chief,” said Chief Barker. “And am proud of the women and men of the Macomb Police Department, as they move into the future,” Barker added.

The Wells’Built museum in Orlando celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Suwanee names new police chief, city clerk

The City of Suwanee has named a new police chief and a new city clerk following the recent retirements of two 20+ year city employees.  Cass Mooney, who had served as deputy chief for the Suwanee Police Department, took the reins as chief of police on Feb. 1, 2021. He fills a position left vacant by the retirement of Mike Jones. Jones spent 23 years with the City of Suwanee and a total of 47 years in law enforcement, according to a statement from city officials. During Jones tenure, the Suwanee Police Department more than doubled in size. The department was accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies in 2010 – one of just 56 in Georgia – and in 2016, the department was named the Phyllis Goodwin Agency of the Year by the Georgia Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. Jones was also named Outstanding Chief of the Year by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in 2018.
