TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo Police officer was shot and killed in a standoff on Batavia near Columbia Monday evening that resulted in the suspect being shot as well.
According to Chief George Kral, Officer Brandon Stalker was shot once, and died from those injuries.
Around 3:30 p.m., officers noticed a suspect standing on the 2300 block of Fulton Street. Police believe he was the suspect that had vandalized a cathedral earlier Monday morning.
The department had more retirements in 2020 than they expected. Chief George Kral has said for the size of Toledo, the department should have over 100 more officers.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -The City of Cleveland has started vaccinating its first responders, in accordance with the Ohio Department of Healthâs Phase 1A guidelines.
Fire Chief Angelo Calvillo was among the first to receive the Moderna vaccine on Thursday, followed by EMS Commissioner Nicole Carlton.
