MEET THE CHEF Angela Lawrence is the Chief Culture Officer of Gusto 54 and co-founder of Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen, a buzzy restaurant in downtown Toronto well known for its succulent jerk chicken and Jamaican homestyle favourites like saltfish fritters and curry goat. “Although it’s been challenging for everyone during the pandemic, we’ve been fortunate to be able to expand and add a second Chubby’s location via Kitchen Hub in the east end,” says Angela. “It’s been so validating to see the city continue to embrace a restaurant that was created as a passion project between me and my best friend Janet Zuccarini.”
