Nigeria must fix refineries to avoid monopoly – Economists The Punch
The Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, South-South, have highlighted the need for the nation’s ailing refineries to be repaired to avoid a monopoly in the oil refining market in the coming years.

He noted in a report made available to our correspondent that the refineries, located in Port Harcourt, Kaduna and Warri, had been utilising less than 25 per cent of the installed capacity of 445,000 barrels per day since 1998.

The programme was tagged: “Economic and Technical Innovations for Africa During and After COVID-19”.
“The offshoot from here will be the World Summit for Single Market in Africa which will take place here in the country on March 23, 2021.
“The idea is to bring the various African countries under one umbrella and to harness the regional market for Africa’s structural transformation.
“We look forward to the hosting of the event as Nigeria is ripe and Africa is indeed ready for the world,” he said.
He noted that the goal of the summit, which started in 2003 was to bring together countries’ leaders, stakeholders, international investors, and industry decision-makers to foster economic and bilateral relationships.
PIMS employees finally get some response from govt

Islamabad: The government established contact with employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Saturday as the protest against the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance continued on the 16th day, with the participation of representatives of 22 government organizations.
The leadership of the Federal Grand Health Alliance was called for a meeting in the office of the Prime Ministerâs Special Assistant on CDA Affairs Ai Nawaz Awan, where the concerns of PIMS employees were tabled for a discussion. Ali Nawaz assured the team that he would establish contact with the PMâs Special Advisor on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan for resolution of the crisis. The FGHA will now have a meeting with Dr. Faisal today (Tuesday).
