One of the perks of living in Title Town in West Alabama (other than football bragging rights) is the incredible non-chain restaurants we have. I’m talking about amazing food. My family and friends mainly visit to check out the dining.
I have often wondered what if “such and such” restaurant was franchised. Would it “hit” like it does in Alabama? I mean, the way northerners freak out over Waffle House when they get to the south. I believe our local restaurants would do quite well.

media release: Wisconsinites are about to have a new outlet to express their creativity and pay homage to subjects closest to their hearts. On Nov. 17, the University of WisconsinâMadisonâs Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) will launch Wisconsinâs first-ever sijo poem writing competition.
Sijo is a traditional Korean three-line poetic form consisting of a theme (1st line), elaboration (2nd line), and a counter-theme and conclusion (3rd line). Sijo traditionally explores cosmological, metaphysical, or pastoral themes and consists of 14-16 syllables per line:
