With a robust 10 games in 18 days - and a couple of frustrating losses to end that stretch Ducks coach Dallas Eakins felt the best solution yesterday was some time away from the rink for his team.
He gave the Ducks a much-needed day off Sunday and saw some noticeable energy in their return to practice yesterday as they prepared for a single game in Denver tonight.

Aleksander Barkov, Carter Verhaeghe and Frank Vatrano each scored their tenth goal of the season in the second period, and the Florida Panthers won for the fifth time its past six games by posting a 4-2 decision over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.
Barkov, who also added an assist, would turn it up to 11 midway through the third, with the assists going to Verhaeghe and Anthony Duclair, who had two helpers in his first game in two weeks. After taking a rather innocent looking cross from Verhaeghe, Duclair spotted Barkov open down low and hit him with a perfect pass.

Yesterday, the Arizona Coyotes had one of their worst efforts of the season against the Minnesota Wild. After the first period, it looked like it would be more of the same, with the Coyotes digging themselves a two-goal hole. But the Coyotes dug deep and came back with an impressive 5-2 win.
The first period of the game was almost all Minnesota. Minnesota set the pace of the first period, keeping the Coyotes from setting up in the offensive zone and forcing them to play a back and forth style. And while Arizona struggled to keep up, the Wild scored the first two.
