Plateau Government on Saturday said it is working to ascertain the actual number of civil servants in its employ.
The new Head of Service (HoS), Mr Sunday Hyat, said this when the national executive of Gindiri Old Students Association (GOSA), his alma mater, visited him in Jos.
He said: “Government is presently conducting an investigation towards knowing the actual number of civil servants in its workforce.’’
Hyat, however, assured the GOSA executive that the state government would continue with the regular payment of the salaries of its workforce.
Lagos appeals to striking judiciary staff to resume work

Lagos State government has appealed to the striking members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, to go back to work and open the gates of the courts to litigants.
The appeal was made at a meeting which the executives of JUSUN in the state held with representatives of the government on Thursday.
The state government, during the meeting, impressed it on the workers that there was no need for the strike as the judiciary is already enjoying full financial autonomy in accordance with the provisions of the constitution, the various court judgment and Executive Order 10.
Benin – The torch of unity of the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) on Monday morning began a tour of Edo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the torch will however only visit the headquarters of the state’s three Senatorial Districts, unlike how it was done previously.
Then, the torch had gone through all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
The torch-bearers are being led by Sixtus Omokhagbor, an aide to Philip Shaibu, the Chairman of the festival’s Local Organising Committee (LOC), who is also Edo’s Deputy Governor.
NAN reports that other members of the team include Osagie Ohaimu, national record holder in the 21km walk race, and Faith Fidelis, an 800m and 1500m specialist.
