While one group of farmers was led by Kurubur Shanthakumar of Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association, the other group comprised members of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Hasiru Sene and Dalit Sangharsh Samithi. The farmers led by Mr. Shanthakumar blindfolded themselves in front of the Gandhi statue opposite the court complex and sat on a dharna to draw attention to what they called the conspiracy of the government to break the farmers’ agitation.

Mangaluru City Corporation decides to seek land for drinking water   Fri, Jan 01 2021 10:38:12 AM Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP) Mangaluru, Jan 1: The city corporation, at its general session held here on Thursday December 31 that was presided over by mayor Diwakar, decided to seek ten acres of land for supplying drinking water from the new dam at Adyar. A new dam is being constructed downstream of the new dam at Thumbe. This will help augmentation of water storage between the two dams at Thumbe and Adyar. In order to create infrastructure needed to supply water from here to the city, city mayor Diwakar has written to Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, seeking to hand over ten acres of land that is currently available at Adyar, to the city corporation. This was stated by whip, Premananda Shetty.
