HBAA, the association for the meetings, events and accommodation industry, has appointed Louisa Watson, director of marketing at Wyboston Lakes Resort, and Gareth Warnock, group sales director of De Vere, as venue sector advisors to the Board.
The positions have been created to represent the depth and breadth of the HBAA’s venue community and they bring their voice and influence to HBAA’s board strategy and activities. They join David Taylor, formerly managing director of Grass Roots Meetings & Events and a non-executive chairman of BCD Meetings & Events, who was appointed as an advisor at the end of last year.
The Safer Events digital training and accreditation course, launched by Hire Space in 2020, has become formally CPD Certified, meaning it can contribute directly to the continued professional development of event professionals in the UK.
The accredited CPD training, which is supported by the Event Marketing Association (EMA) and the Delegate Wranglers group, means the learning activity has reached the required Continuing Professional Development standards and benchmarks. The learning value has been scrutinised to ensure integrity and quality. The CPD Certification Service provides recognised independent CPD accreditation compatible with global CPD requirements.
The Safer Events programme, designed to equip event planners with practical skills for organising in-person events post-Covid, has recently been nominated in the “Best Event Supplier Safety Product Development” category at the Exhibition News Awards.
