Microsoft rolls out performance upgrade to Outlook for Windows, biggest change since 1997

Microsoft rolls out performance upgrade to Outlook for Windows, biggest change since 1997 May 27, 2021 00:30 EDT · Hot! with 39 comments Back in 2019, Microsoft announced that it is updating Outlook for Windows with a number of enhancements, but up until now, these were only available in preview and customers had to manually opt in. Upgrades primarily revolved around shared calendars, headlined by smoother and more reliable synchronization, faster editing of an event, and other changes to the default behavior. While the company hasn t quantified it, it says that the enhancements dramatically improve the sync latency and reliability of shared and delegated calendars in Outlook for Windows. It is important to note that these performance benefits have been available on other Outlook clients such as those on the web, Mac, and mobile for quite some time, and are now being rolled out on Windows as well.

Outlook sees arguably the biggest change since its launch in 1997

Microsoft has a new calendar sharing experience for Outlook for Windows that "dramatically improves" sync latency and reliability. The improvements have been available for other Outlook clients but are now rolling out to Outlook for Windows.

Monthly Office Insiders build for Mac users out with Share to Teams for Outlook and more May 3, 2021 17:22 EDT with 0 comments As it does every month, Microsoft has released the Office Insider build for Current Channel users on macOS for the month of May. The update bumps the build to 16.49.21050201 and brings with it a bunch of new features and Teams integrations to the suite of apps. First up is PowerPoint, which is getting a new ‘Present in Teams’ button that helps users directly begin a slideshow in a Teams meeting. The button is situated in the top right corner of the menu bar and the firm says that the feature makes it easier to present to users’ audience, especially with remote meetings becoming the norm.
