Laurel County Sheriff John Root says K-9/Shift Sgt. Gary Mehler and Deputy Brent France made an arrest in a stolen vehicle case. It all started when a man left his truck to go into a business on US 25. When he returned the truck was gone, but a friend who was there and witnessed the theft went after the truck. The friend lost sight of the truck but later found it at a home off Old Slate Road. The owner called police and Deputy France arrived where the truck was parked. When the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Edgar Sizemore, saw police he got out and fled on foot. Following a short chase Sizemore was caught and taken into custody. After K-9 Shift Sgt. Mehler arrived and during the investigation found suspected meth, a hypodermic needle, and a set of digital scales. Sizemore was charged with theft and drug trafficking and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
