The southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat,” will continue to dump rains over most of Luzon and Western Visayas in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday morning, July 28.
PAGASA said scattered to widespread moderate to at times heavy rains may prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains may also persist in Metro Manila, rest of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Abra, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Tarlac, Bulacan, Pampanga, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, northern Palawan including Cuyo and Calamian Islands, Antique, and Aklan.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its concerned Field Offices (FOs), has started to provide augmentation assistance to local government units (LGUs) affected by the Southwest Monsoon rains which was enhanced by Typhoon ‘Fabian.’
Based on the July 26, 6PM update of the DSWD Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB), the DSWD FO CALABARZON, in coordination with the Batangas Provincial Quick Response Team (QRT) facilitated the distribution of 387 family food packs (FFPs) to affected families in the municipalities of Calaca, Calatagan, and Nasugbu in Batangas on July 25.
DSWD FO MIMAROPA also provided a total of 5,200 family food packs amounting to P3.6 million to the provinces of Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro for distribution to the affected families.
