According to the CTA, the existing State/Lake station was built in 1895, as part of the original elevated Loop. It serves five of the transit authority s eight rail lines and in 2019 was the second-busiest station on the Loop with more than 3.7 million rider entries.
The new design retains some of the station s original design elements such as posts and railings to give the station an old-new look. The intersection of State and Lake Streets is an iconic location in the heart of Chicago, and it deserves a station that makes a bold statement while meeting the needs of the 21st Century transit customer,” said CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr.

May 12, 2021 - 7:00 PM The idea of a ban on idling vehicles has been around for a long time and such bans are in place in 30 B.C. communities, including Kamloops. It s been talked about in the Central Okanagan for at least three years but it may finally see the light of day in Kelowna this year. But, even if such a bylaw is passed, it will be more for educational purposes than punishment, Jerry Dombowsky, the City of Kelowna’s transit and programs manager told iNFOnews.ca today, May 12. “It would kind of be like our non-smoking bylaw for parks and open spaces,” Dombowsky said. “That’s very effective in our transit exchange, because we have legitimized the action of non-smoking. Have we ever had a ticket written for it? No. Not to my knowledge. Never. But it’s used all the time and people know, not only is it not polite to smoke, also there’s a bylaw against it.”

On March 31, the Biden Administration released details on its “American Jobs Plan.” Containing $2.25 trillion in new spending, $400 billion in tax credits, and $2.75 trillion in tax increases, if passed as proposed, the plan would be among the largest pieces of legislation in American history.REF The sprawling nature of the proposal, which includes taxes, transportation infrastructure, schools, health benefits, economic incentives, and more, makes the package difficult to analyze and summarize for public debate.
This has become standard practice in Washington: Leading Members of Congress bundle disparate policy measures into a handful of bloated legislative vehicles per session, and deem them “must pass” in order to pressure rank-and-file Members to vote in favor of them regardless of their specific policy concerns.REF
