Norman Funderburk of Humble has announced his candidacy for the position of mayor of the City of Humble in the election set for May 1, 2021.
“I believe that my track record of service in the community speaks to the level of pride, dedication and commitment that I have for the city I love and for its citizens. I have a servant’s heart and want to have a positive impact and make a difference for our community,” Funderburk said in launching his campaign.
Funderburk was first elected to Humble City Council in 2014, re-elected in 2016, 2018 and 2020, and was serving in his fourth term at the time he stepped down to run for mayor.

Willow Hill Equestrian in Orange, Va. will add two new members to its stallion roster in 2021, in veteran Grey Swallow and newcomer Hollywood Handsome.
Grey Swallow, the winner of the 2004 Irish Derby, will stand the upcoming breeding season for an advertised fee of $3,000.
The 20-year-old son of Daylami previously stood at Calumet Farm in Kentucky. Before that, he stood in Australia and his native Ireland.
Grey Swallow has sired 10 crops of racing age, with 51 winners and combined progeny earnings of more than $2.4 million. He has Grade/Group 1-placed runners in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, with Ungrateful Ellen finishing second in Australia s Group 1 Queensland Oaks and Cadet Connelly running second in Canada s Grade 1 Summer Stakes.
Richmond upon Thames’ first protected cycle lane on Kew Road has seen a surge in use, with more than twice the number of weekly users than previously recorded.
Data collected from cameras on the road recorded an average of 831 Kew Road cycle lane users per week, which is double the average from 2018 (397 cyclists recorded in a week).
This follows a series of measures introduced in September 2020 to make Kew Road safer and more accessible for cyclists as part of the borough’s Post-COVID Transport Action Plan.
With funding secured from TfL, Richmond Council implemented a system of raised posts, known as wands and armadillos, to protect the cycle lanes from the traffic lanes between Lion Gate Gardens and Kew Gardens Road.

International sire Orpen died on Tuesday after suffering from colic and not recovering from emergency surgery, according to Turf Diario. He was 25.
The son of Lure out of the Devil s Bag daughter Bonita Francita was bred in Kentucky by Katom and sold for $525,000 at the 1996 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale to BBA Ireland from the Ashford Stud consignment.
Earlier that year, Orpen s half-brother Jules had won on his debut and was runner-up in the Cowdin Stakes in his second start. Jules later struck in the Nashua Stakes.
It was Aidan O Brien who campaigned Orpen, who won on his debut and became a Group 1 winner in his next start in the Prix Morny at Deauville. He struggled to maintain his form at three and was subsequently retired after six starts.
