2021 Polestar 2: Single-motor variants announced with up to 540km range

The 2021 Polestar 2 range has been expanded with the addition of two new single-motor variants, trading performance for a lower starting price.
Sitting below the existing all-wheel-drive 78kWh Polestar 2 introduced at launch, the two new Polestar models lose the range-topper s rear motor to become front-wheel-drive, and are paired to a choice of Standard Range 64kWh or Long Range 78kWh batteries.
Opting for the smaller pack allows the front-mounted electric motor to develop 165kW and 330Nm, enabling a preliminary driving range of 420 to 440 kilometres on Europe s WLTP cycle, a 7.4-second 0-100km/h sprint time, and a 160km/h top speed.

Converted at the current exchange rates, $40,560 isn’t a lot for the Standard Range battery, Base trim level, and rear-wheel drive. The lineup further consists of the Extended Range Premium RWD at 309,900 yuan ($47,450) as well as the Extended Range Premium AWD at 339,900 yuan ($52,050).

Canada s 94-Mile Range Tesla Model 3 Is Now Advertised

It’s hard to believe that Tesla would sell a Model 3 with only 94 miles (151 km) of driving range, but that’s exactly what it’s been doing in Canada. In the past, this version was hidden, but now it’s being advertised on Tesla’s Canadian order website.
There is a good reason for Tesla to offer this low-range model: customer tax incentives. Canada’s government created a $5,000 tax incentive for the purchase of a new EV in 2019, but the base price must be under $45,000 and cost no more than $55,000 with options. All Teslas didn’t qualify because all models started over $45,000 at the time.
