Pressure on church to mend its ways and root out corruption ahead of Apostlesâ gathering

Cape Town - Ahead of the Old Apostolic Church of Africa (OAC) annual conference this month, questions have been raised about the church s seriousness in rooting out alleged corruption and fraud and implementing transformation within its ranks.
The church s Apostles attend a conference twice a year, usually in March and September, where a particular theme and teaching is decided on and channelled to the officers and members.
Temporal matters are also discussed at the conference and resolutions made by the church s board of management are tabled for approval.

Johannesburg - Former pastors and congregants have levelled allegations of forced abortions and sterilisation against the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.
The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities heard testimony on Friday during investigations into the church, after complaints were brought before the commission by alleged victims, and congregants.
A former pastor of the Universal Church, Bongani Manyisa, who joined the church in 2002, told the commission that he was a victim of alleged forced sterilisation at an early age.

A senior pastor from the Rivers of Living Waters Ministries has defended the church s leader, Archbishop Stephen Zondo, who has been accused of rape by several women.
Lydia Malete on Monday told the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) that her relative, who claimed she was raped by Zondo, was lying.
