India- Flipkart partners with Tamil Nadu government to boost small-scale businesses

(MENAFN - KNN India) Flipkart partners with Tamil Nadu government to boost small-scale businesses Chennai, Feb 19 (KNN) E-commerce firm, Flipkart has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu Micro, Small Medium Enterprises Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau to serve local artisans, weavers, craftsmen. The partnership, under the Flipkart Samarth programme, would enable the artisans, weavers, craftsmen and small industries to showcase their products from the house of Flipkart. The trade bureau would support Flipkart with its state-owned affiliated enterprises and undertakings which work with the crafts producers and farmers. There are 294 industrial cooperative societies functioning under the department. Many of them are involved in production of handicraft items, including GI registered products. This MoU will provide these societies with new vigour and link them to a national market for their products, Industries Commissioner Anu George said.

The six-month-long entrepreneurial initiative CATALYSE 2020: Startup with a Heart brought together 150 students, mostly of Indian origin, who had the common goal of creating a socially conscientious business. The students were divided into 16 teams. Advertisement At an awards ceremony for the best start-up projects on Saturday, chairman of SingaporeIndian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) T Chandroo said his office will provide entrepreneurial guidance to each of the 16 teams and help them pitch to potential investors.
