Collector V. Vishnu wants to make Tirunelveli district a hub for entrepreneurs. And his vision has brought hope to the large number of unemployed youth in this region.
When he started his career as Sub-Collector of Cheranmahadevi, Mr. Vishnu organised special coaching classes with the help of volunteers to those preparing Tamil Nadu Public Service Examination. After being posted at Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and being Director of Employment and Training, his focus turned to creating a skilled workforce.
Coimbatore: Handlooms and textiles minister O S Manian met readymade garment makers and exporters in Tirupur on Wednesday and invited them to invest in the new Veda Textile Park, promising immediate fulfilment of all basic requirements. The meeting was held at the Tirupur collectorate to discuss the status of the upcoming park and requirements. Pointing out that two locations were earlier shortlisted for the park in Nagapattinam, the minister said they had zeroed in on 46.5 hectares land at Ayakkaranpulam in Vedaranyam block for the project.
The textile park would have 36 units - 34 readymade garment units and two knitwear units. “The park will be set up at a cost of Rs98.86 crore, of which the Union government offer Rs 37.8 crore subsidy and the state Rs 23.62 crore subsidy,” the minister said. Manian said they had requested the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation to train 4,000 employees at the park in stitching and other allied garment related activities.

Vedha Textile Park will have 34 readymade garment and two knitwear units Minister for Handlooms and Textiles O.S. Manian urged industrialists from Tiruppur to utilise the upcoming Vedha Textile Park at Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam district, during a meeting here on Wednesday.
According to a press release, Mr. Manian said that as Nagapattinam was agriculture-intensive area, other industries remain underdeveloped.
The Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department, along with Tiruppur Exporters and Manufacturers Association and Nagapattinam District Administration identified a 46.5-hectare site at Ayakkaranpulam 4th Sethi village in Vedaranyam Block for setting up the park.
