AAA With less than a day left for campaigning, the AIADMK has released a compilation of its poll promises. This includes washing machines, six free LPG cylinders a year, door delivery of commodities and free solar stoves to family cardholders. In a joint statement, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam said their government had kept all its promises. They said though they began as ordinary party workers, former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had given them various positions and today they had risen to such offices.

The Income Tax (I-T) Department seized unaccounted cash of over ₹8 crore following searches at residences of DMK and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) functionaries in Dharapuram, and at the Tiruppur-based Anitha HealthCare and Anitha Texcot India Private Limited.
The garment factory is owned by A. Chandrasekaran, who was appointed the treasurer of Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in 2019.
Searches were on at multiple locations. So far, unaccounted cash to the tune of ₹8 crore had been found, sources in the Department said.
“This is unaccounted for, but it is difficult to claim that this is election money unless suitable evidence is found,” said another source in the Department.

9 DSP rank officers also shifted The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the transfer of Inspector-General of Police (IGP), south zone, S. Murugan, to a non-election post.
Ordering the transfer with immediate effect, the ECI asked the State government to send a panel of officers for the appointment of IGP, south zone.

Acting on inputs given by the Special Police Observer, the ECI also ordered the transfer of nine Deputy Superintendents of Police-rank officers in the State, including five in the Chennai police.
