Most states allow people to carry guns in their state capitols and few, except for Michigan, have plans to change that in the wake of FBI reports that pro-Trump groups are planning potentially violent state capitol protests ahead of Joe Biden s inauguration.
All but a dozen states Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Idaho, Louisiana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nevada, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia allow guns in most state capitol complex buildings, according to the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence and Des Moines Register reporting, although some have restrictions. Florida also prohibits all guns in meetings of the state Legislature.
