The day before she is due to get her results, Martine meets her former love rival Grace Black (Tamara Wall) – who recently received the all-clear from cancer after finding a lump of her own – and the pair have a drink at at The Loft as Martine confides in Grace about her fears.
The next morning, Martine has a lot to think about as she gets ready to head to the hospital to hear her results. This also happens to be the day that the Dee Valley Businesswoman of the Year is announced – an award that Martine is in the running for.
Both Martine and Grace were seen getting ready for the day, being late for a delivery and attending an interview for Businesswoman of the Year, before they both headed to the hospital for an appointment after they both recently discovered a lump on their breast.
Unfortunately, despite the apparent similarities between Martine and Grace s days, many elements were very different, with Martine experiencing a number of microaggressions from others and being denied the chance to see the doctor after Peri Lomax (Ruby O Donnell) double booked her and Grace s appointments.
Martine headed home and answered a question for her Businesswoman of the Year application about a day in her life , explaining that she was tired of microaggressions.
Martine and Grace crossed paths at the hospital and had a disagreement about who Felix had feelings for. Elsewhere, Peri Lomax realised she double-booked their appointments for the same time, Peri broke up their dispute and said that only one of them would be able to see the doctor.
Grace started crying and without hesitation, Peri offered to let her go in to see the doctor, when Martine objected and asked about herself Peri told her to be more sympathetic. Martine s response was: What about sympathy for me? I have a lump too. I am terrified too.
Martine was told to stop being aggressive and to come back the next day for an appointment. When Martine got home, she began to answer questions on the written application form for Businesswoman of the Year. She answered a day-in-the-life question and explained how she had to put up with daily micro-aggressions and constantly has to prove herself to other people.
