WHAT happens when foreign workers have to undergo mandatory home quarantine?
The lack of a proper monitoring system as well as their poor living conditions came to light in Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur.
It all started when several foreign workers who tested positive for Covid-19 at a construction site in the neighbourhood were moved to a health facility.
Their housemates who tested negative were ordered to undergo mandatory quarantine at home.
However, when they ran out of food supplies before the two-week period ended, some of the quarantined workers went out to buy food at a local supermarket and were spotted by a resident.

Its Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said this would enable those involved in the programme to generate their own capital to sustain the activity and not solely rely on government’s assistance.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13: The Federal Territories Ministry will strengthen the urban farming programme to allow the farm produce to be commercialised and sustain the activity for a long time.
Its Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said this would enable those involved in the programme to generate their own capital to sustain the activity and not solely rely on government’s assistance.
“The urban farming programme is carried out on a small scale but we need (help from other parties) to market the produce. This matter will be monitored by the ministry and there will also be an involvement of non-governmental organisations,” he told reporters at the press conference held at the Sentul Perdana Community Centre after visiting the urban farming project at the Seri Malaysia PPR (People’s
PETALING JAYA: A suspected snatch thief has been arrested following a raid by police at Taman Medan here.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the incident occurred at around 11.25am on Jan 30 near the Seri Setia KTM station at Sungai Way. The victim, a 39-year-trader, had his bag of money and personal belongings snatched. We raided a house at Taman Desa Ria, Taman Medan, at around 8.45pm on Thursday (Feb 4) and arrested the 27-year-old suspect, he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 5).
He said police also seized items believed to be used in snatch thefts.
