Dhanbad lawyer files PIL seeking Covid vaccine price control Petition demands life saving equipment to fight virus be brought under relevant act A Dhanbad based lawyer, Mumtaz Ansari, filed a PIL on Wednesday in Jharkhand High Court seeking its intervention to direct the union government to regulate the prices of Covid vaccine and other medical equipment necessary for the treatment of the virus. Ansari in his petition, addressed to the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Ravi Ranjan, claimed that the central government’s decision to let manufacturers fix the price of the vaccine has in turn led to the price being fixed in an arbitrary and unjustified manner which is affecting the common man.

Dhanbad to intensify Covid vigil as cases rise All persons within 200-300 metre of hotspot zones to be tested Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Singh on Saturday carried out an inspection of Covid hot spots and testing centres in the district. Singh instructed authorities to intensify the testing in the hot spots as the district recorded 31 cases on April 1 and 33 on April 3. At present there are 78 active Covid cases. On Friday, 10 cases were reported in one colony of ward Number 11 of Jamadoba. The DC instructed officials to carry out Covid tests of all 81 families living in the colony. The DC visited Sadar Hospital at around 1 pm and instructed hospital in-charge, Dr Rajkumar Singh to test patients visiting the OPD centre.

Passengers have to undergo Covid-19 tests at Dhanbad station from Thursday

The district administration on Tuesday decided to make Covid tests mandatory for passengers arriving at Dhanbad railway station from Thursday. In a meeting headed by Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Singh, it was decided that tests will be conducted using TrueNat (true-nucleic acid amplification test) at the station premises, and strict action taken against those who try to evade testing. The district and the railway administrations have made arrangements to identify and prevent passengers from fleeing from the station without carrying out the mandatory Covid test. Singh said that Dhanbad is a strategically important location that witnesses a large number of people coming in everyday and it was therefore necessary to ensure everyone’s safety.

Health centre with OPD facility opens at Belgarhia General physicians, gynaecologists, orthopaedics available between 10am to 5.30pm A well-equipped health centre was launched on Monday at Jharia Vihar Colony of Belgarhia to address the health care needs of around 5,000 families of 595 underground fire-affected sites, who have been rehabilitated in the colony since March 25, 2010. The centre is launched on a temporary basis for 5-6 months in two residential quarters of Phase I of Jharia Vihar Colony. It will offer OPD service from 10 am to 5 pm with the consultancy of general physicians, gynaecologists, orthopaedics, etc. Dr Durga Patwari provided medical consultancy on the inaugural day and she will offer her services for the next two days as well.
