Police minister: Many Meron victims have yet to be identified

Public Security Minister Amir Ohana says many of the Meron stampede victims have yet to be identified. “Unfortunately, many of the deceased have yet to be identified… and as a result, there are many families still unaware [of the fate of their relatives],” he says. Ohana, whose office oversees the Israel Police, says officers are working to clear the roads around Mount Meron and enable those stranded at the pilgrimage site to head home. Idaho, West Virginia pass anti-Israel boycott laws

(AP Photo/Amr Nabil) JTA Idaho and West Virginia have joined the growing list of states that over the past several years have passed anti-Israel boycott legislation aimed at outlawing businesses that support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. The bills passed this week bring the number of states with similar laws to 33. Idaho’s Anti-Boycott Against Israel Act states that public entities cannot do business over a total of $100,000 with companies that do not expressly oppose the BDS movement. West Virginia’s bill stipulates the same.

The cabinet meeting planned for Sunday has been canceled following the disaster at Mount Meron.
