A 73-year-old man from Cape Town has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of methamphetamine and mandrax tablets.
The police were following up on information on Friday about drugs being kept at a house in Keurberg Road, Bishop Lavis, Cape Town.
“A search warrant was obtained and police proceeded to the address and upon their arrival, they found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine and [mandrax] tablets worth a substantial amount,” police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said.

Cape Town - The police arrested a 14-year-old boy along with two accomplices for hijacking and robbing an e-hailing driver in Browns Farm, Philippi.
According to a police statement the three suspects had requested a ride on the e-hailing platform with the intention of robbing and hijacking the driver once he arrived at Browns Farm.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said: “When the driver arrived they hijacked his vehicle and robbed him of his cellphone. The vehicle was found parked at a residence in Vukuthu Street in Browns Farm. One suspect was arrested and further questioning led to the arrest of the other two accomplices.”

Eugene Jones was granted bail of R800, while Johan van der Merwe remains behind bars until their next court appearance on 21 December.
The pair were arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) on Sunday following the death of Marlon Fuller in Hanover Park.
He was allegedly shot outside his house last Saturday.
Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz said 38-year-old Fuller, a security officer, succumbed to his wounds in hospital.
He had reportedly left his house to call his daughters home from a nearby playground at midnight, Fritz said.
