Body of ‘rape and murder’ victim found in Gugulethu By Nomalanga Tshuma Share Cape Town - The body of a 31-year-old woman was found on a footpath in Kanana Informal settlement in Gugulethu. It is alleged that she was raped and murdered by a man known by residents. Her father who was on the scene said he was called to the scene this morning and he last saw her before going to the funeral on Saturday. Meanwhile, in Gordon’s Bay police arrested a 51-year-old man for possession of 9 510 crayfish tails. The suspect, who is believed to be involved in the illegal crayfish trade was apprehended by police whilst travelling on the N2 towards Gordon’s Bay from Hermanus.

This as five were arrested on Monday after they targeted an e-hailing driver in Browns Farm. Last week, 14 suspects, including six teenagers accused of the same crime, were arrested in Browns Farm. Police spokesperson Andre Traut said the suspects ordered an e-hailing service and robbed the driver of his vehicle and two cellphones. “The victim managed to jump out of the vehicle and flee after he was threatened with a knife. He flagged a police patrol down and accompanied the members in search of the suspects. This search led to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect who was pointed out by the victim.

Boy, 14, and accomplices arrested for hijacking e-hailing driver in Cape Town By Nomalanga Tshuma Share Cape Town - The police arrested a 14-year-old boy along with two accomplices for hijacking and robbing an e-hailing driver in Browns Farm, Philippi. According to a police statement the three suspects had requested a ride on the e-hailing platform with the intention of robbing and hijacking the driver once he arrived at Browns Farm. Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said: “When the driver arrived they hijacked his vehicle and robbed him of his cellphone. The vehicle was found parked at a residence in Vukuthu Street in Browns Farm. One suspect was arrested and further questioning led to the arrest of the other two accomplices.”
