Ruptured WASA line at Caroni plant leads to sticky water

Caroni Water Treatment Plant, Golden Grove Road, Piarco. - Photo by Roger Jacob A ruptured chemical line at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant on Friday led to a shutdown of the facility for emergency maintenance work, as it affected the quality of water in North, Central and Southwestern Trinidad. On Friday morning people took to social media complaining that the water in their homes had an unusual feel and smell, with some people complaining of a sticky feel to the water they received. The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) confirmed in a release hours later that there was a rupture in the chemical dosage line, which affected the treatment process at the plant.

Clinics are being held in Thurles at the Dome in Semple Stadium from today until Thursday with clinics open from 5pm to 8.15 each evening. Meanwhile Scoil Eoin Naofa on Golden Grove Road in Roscrea will have clinics from 3.45 to 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday. The officer dissected the package and saw what appeared to be cocaine coming from one of the prunes, which was examined. Officers from the Preventive Branch of the Customs and Excise Division were called in and the package was seized. A senior official at TTPost complimented the staff on their alertness in deeming the package suspicious. He said this level of scrutiny is consistent with TTPost operating standards and that the package would have gone through a further examination at the facilities of the international courier company that was destined to take the package to the US.
