So, I ve had a wee trawl through the grey matter to come up with some memories. At Stirling s predecessor, the famous Perth market, it was always considered a very good night if you awoke in the morning between two bulls. Doing the same amongst some heifers down in Perth might have been a bit more dubious! The Raider inexplicably also remembers well the last Highland cattle sale in the old market, where the precaution was taken by The SF s reporting team of not risking the weather by arriving on the train. It was also the final day of the old market bar and so while the usual thirsty throng of Highland cattlemen and women tried their best to help empty the shelves, it necessitated a half price sale by the bar owner to elicit a full reduction in stock by reigniting the enthusiasm of the clientele.
