Holgate s doubt over PM apology | Queensland Times

Government unlikely to implement recommendations of Holgate inquiry report

The government is unlikely to implement the recommendations of the report from the Senate inquiry into the departure of former Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate, according to Sky News Business Reporter Ed Boyd. Australia Post will appear before Senate estimates at 1:15pm today where it is expected to face further questions about whether it will apologise to Ms Holgate or privatise the business. Ms Holgate exited Australia Post last year after it was revealed four executives had been awarded Cartier watches worth a total of $20,000. She has since been cleared of misusing taxpayer funds but said her position was untenable after the government's intervention where it allegedly pushed for her resignation. The Senate committee recommended the resignation of Chairman Lucio Di Bartolomeo, the prime minister apologise for his condemning comments and Communications Minister Paul Fletcher be referred to the auditor general.
