Over 11.6m cellular communication subscribers in Belarus
MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – There are over 11.6 million cellular communication subscribers in Belarus, the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry told BelTA.
According to the source, cellular communication industry grows all the time in Belarus. The number of cellular communication subscribers is always on the rise and reached 11.67 million as of 1 April 2021. The penetration rate of 125% matches international trends. As many as 64% of the subscribers use Internet access.
Second-generation (2G) and third-generation (3G) cellular communication services are available to 99.9% of the population on more than 98% of the country s territory. LTE coverage grows all the time and reached 92% of the population and 42.8% of the country s territory as of 1 April 2021.

Muscat: Omantel joined on May 17 over 900 ITU members in celebrating the International Telecommunication Union’s ‘World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD)’, observed annually to mark the Union’s founding and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865.
The past year sets the tone for deciding the 2021 WTISD theme – “Accelerating Digital Transformation in Challenging Times” as the COVID-19 crisis highlighted the critical role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for the continued functioning of societies.
Omantel has been an active member of the ITU, exchanging and sharing industry best practices and experiences with global powerhouses in the field of telecommunications to build on its presence, service delivery and solutions suites.

The Pakistan Telecommunication said Monday mobile subscribers in the country have crossed 181 million, as it marked the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD).
The purpose of the WTISD is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) could bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
